Netanyahu: Seeking Favor in the Eyes of America

Denying that the 10 month freeze on settlement in Yesha is connected to the possible Shalit-terrorists exchange, PM Netanyahu called his cabinet together to vote on the freeze which is not to include Jerusalem within its framework.

Of course, turning his back oon his constituency ultimately does Netanyahu no good since Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat already made clear on Tuesday that any freeze that did not include east Jerusalem was unacceptable

The matters discussed in the cabinet meeting included the need to sign orders, issuing a construction prohibition map in accordance with a general's order, defining communities' borders, imposing sanctions on heads of communities and councils, arresting and banning youth involved in building exceptions, "framing" caravan operators working in Yesha and closing them with the help of the Shin Bet and police, defining illegal construction as a criminal activity, quick demolition of any new construction and more.

Sound familiar? Ehud Olmert created such Draconian measures in his zealous pursuit of the destruction of Israel's most ideologically-motivated population sector.

As if this were not enough of a declaration of war against the very people who elected him, it was also decided to focus on the Amana settlement movement and to appoint a inter-ministerial team to implement the conclusions.

Binyamin Netanyahu was given something few failed politicians receive - a second chance. It is unlikely he will receive a third.

Ministers within the government have been called upon to oppose Netanyahu's direction and prevent the renewed attempt at persecuting Yesha residents and destroying Yesha communities.
