Violence Anticipated in Further Evacuations

Security Forces claim that the violence used in the confrontation in Amona was just the very bottom rung of possibilities while reportedly some right wing sources are calling for taking the battle to enemy territory. This seems an ominous sign for future attempts at evacuations in Yesha.

In what may be a fear tactic being used by security leadership, a warning was given to the government that extreme right wing groups are calling for violent confrontation for any action against any community, including the removal of any structure. They also warn that the tactics security forces used in Amona (where dozens of demonstrators were hospitalized and knesset members were beaten bloody) set the bottom rung of the ladder of response for their forces.

Admitting that they have not seen any rise in the call for clashes with political figures originating in extremist groups, they claim that this is only because the right does not see an imminent threat to Yesha communities. They point to the American call for evacuation of "unauthorized outposts" that came out of the recent Annapolis meeting as bringing about the initiation of a work paper reportedly distributed by extreme right wing groups outlining a plan - similar to a military strategic plan - to prevent and postpone evacuations.

In spite of these warnings, however, all signs continue to point, in fact, to the opposite. The strongest variables leading to unrest, those of terrorist actions and fear of impending evacuations, are not felt to be existing today. Even the extreme right seems very calm currently.

It seems that, in reality, this warning is the main thing arousing fear.
