The Israeli government has issued a warning to Israelis not to travel in the Sahel region in the northern part of Africa.
The Al Qeida affiliate terrorist group threatening to abduct Israelis has been responsible for the kidnapping of Canadian, Austrian and German citizens and a bungled attempt to kidnap four U.S. nationals.
The warning specified the following countries and regions: Ivory Coast, Togo, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, Mali and northern Nigeria.
A day earlier, the Israeli terrorism bureau rescinded its travel advisory for travel in India, which had been in effect for two months, based based on a warning of a possible attack in October in Goa, a popular tourist region in India.
