This Sunday evening a group of people entered Yericho to pray at the ancient synagogue that was torched by the Arabs during the second intifada. As of this moment, a group of 24 of them have been arrested by Israeli police for illegaly entering Yericho.
When stopped at the military checkpoints the group claimed that they had a right to enter every city and community in Israel and the Palestinian territories.
"The Oslo Accords are dead, we will not agree to the establishment of an enemy state in Israel right under our noses," Ben-Ari said as he walked with the activists.
Meir Bretler, one of the activists, told the news station, "We erected an Israeli flag here to renew our presence in Jericho. We want to renew the Jewish presence which ended here in 2000 with the start of the intifada. We will stay here for as long as we can."
