Third anniversary of forced expulsion of Jews from Gush Katif marked.

The central event marking the 3rd anniversary of the traumatic and tragic expulsion of Jews from Gush Katif was held at the Kisufim junction. Over 5000 people attended the rally coming from all over the country on pre-arranged buses and in private cars.

The Kisufim junction was the gateway to all those travelling to and from Gush Katif during the 3 decades of the blossoming Jewish presence there. The choice of Kisufim for the rally was a symbolic gesture, reminiscent of those who stood on a hill in southern Jerusalem every year for 19 years looking into Gush Etzion and praying for return to Jewish communities there. Hanan Porat, one of the sons of Gush Etzion and a member of The Yesha Council board, reminded everyone of that symbol and the success of Am Yisrael's steadfast determination to, in fact, return to Gush Etzion. Yesha Council Chairman, Danny Dayan, went further and said that the return to Gush Katif would take place in far less than 19 years and would bring about a much greater Jewish presence there than ever before.

As the ceremony took place, rockets fell near Sha'ar HaNegev underlining and proving Dayan's expressed anger at the government's destructive decision 3 years ago which not only removed Jews from their homes in Eretz Yisrael but also created a situation where Israel's southern residents live under fire from the Hamas rocket launchers.

Gush Katif youth, carrying orange flags, put on a heartwarming performance for the thousands of supporters of a quick return to the productivity and development of Gush Katif.
